艺术节美术评委:Tom Bernard
THOMAS BERNARD, A.O.C.A., M.G.G.A., AMP.
A Toronto born designer graduated from University of Toronto in Marketing, and OCAD (Ontario College of Art and Design University) with one of Canada’s highest awards, the Governor General Medal of Canada. A Senior Designer and Senior Creative Director for several Design Firms and Major Advertising Companies, plus contributed to designing the original Toronto Blue Jays Logo. He has won many scholarships, design awards, and advertising awards for his work.
After many decades in the Communications and Design Industry, I transitioned back to my passion of painting. While studying at OCAD, I had the privilege to study painting with the last living member of the famous “Group of Seven”, A.J. Casson.
My paintings are searching for a breathing sense of light, space, time, and subtle narratives that are personal, but allow the viewer to ponder and create meaning. My concern for excellence of craftsmanship is balanced with freedom to explore the playful side of paint application. I simultaneously push to create interest with surface abstraction, reality, and visual fidelity. It’s all about visual feeling of experience and personal interaction with your art. Collectors own his paintings throughout North America and Europe.
