CICAF’s mission is to promote and develop children’s artistic potential, their appreciation for art and to encourage all children’s artistic expression in a global manner. Our goal is to create a platform for all children to showcase their artistic talents and to interact with other young artists through art while becoming more aware of environmental issues such as climate change.

    The theme of this year’s Festival is “Waterside”. We want to educate children and make them more aware of our concerning state of environment. By expressing this theme through art, they will become more engaged with the theme as they express their love for life and to take responsibility of our future.

Dear Friends:

    We wholeheartedly invite all children from any art groups, schools and organizations internationally to attend our 17th Annual Canada International Children’s Art Festival (CICAF) held at Toronto City Hall. This Festival will be running from August 10th to the 16th 2019. Various art and business industry professionals and renowned artists will be joining us at this special event including our sponsors and members of the media.

    Since it was founded in 2002, the Canada International Children’s Art Festival has become one of the world’s largest children’s art festivals. More than 10,000 children have participated in various competitions at our festival. Participants stem from all parts of the world including Canada, China and Southeast Asia, the U.S. and some European countries. Artwork from different countries, cultures and styles come and mesh together here, like a beautiful symphony.

    All three levels of the Canadian government have given great support to this event, and the venue of the exhibition is none other than the Toronto City Hall.

    This year’s festival’s categories have expanded from fine arts, music and speech to literature, dance, film, children’s drama, and technology, etc. We hope this expansion in categories will encourage more children to participate. This year’s festival also includes multicultural communities including Indigenous children, and children with mental and physical disabilities, so that they have the same positive opportunities to express their artistic creations and passions.

A. Fine Arts: (2 dimensions and 3 dimensions): Animation, calligraphy, cartoons, ceramic art and pottery, Asian seal carving art, greeting cards, handicrafts, illustrations, paintings, posters, prints, sculptures, etc.
B. Video Arts: Visual arts using digital/analog technology, photography and video (animation photography included).
C. Written Art: (Literature): Fairy tales, poem, proses, scripts (drama, film etc.), stories.

MUSIC AND DANCE COMPETITION:

Music Selection time: July 28-29, 2019
Dance Selection time: Aug 5, 2019

SUMMER CAMP

Context: Visiting museums and art galleries, master class lectures, sightseeing sketches, oral English learning, etc.

FESTIVAL CONCERT GALA AND AWARD CEREMONY

Event Date: August 9th, 2019
Context: Inviting Canadian and Chinese politicians, renowned Canadian artists, festival organizing committee’s members, competition judges, guest speakers, award winners, and performances from award recipients.

DATE: Aug 10th – 16th, 2019

VENUE: Toronto City Hall (100 Queen St W, Toronto, ON M5H 2N2)

    Located in the heart of the city, the Toronto City Hall is shaped like a shell and consists of two curved buildings surrounded by a vaulted city council building. It is innovative and unique in design, with two crescent-shaped buildings holding a mushroom-shaped conference hall, designed by the Finnish architect Viljo Revell. Viewed from the sky, the entire city hall is like an eye, so people call it “the eye of the sky.” The City Hall is open to the public free of charge. Every day, many local residents and tourists from all over the world come here to visit. The artwork of the 17th Canada International Children’s Art Festival will be exhibited here.

    The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts is a 43,000 square foot (4,000 square meter) multi-purpose cultural facility on 1.5 acres (6,100 square meters) of land with a 630-seat theatre. Located on Yonge Street in Richmond Hill’s downtown core, at the corner of Yonge and Wright Streets.

    The 17th Canada International Children’s Art Festival Awards Ceremony Concert Gala will be held here. Our organizing committee will invite Canadian and Chinese politicians, entrepreneurs and all VIP guests to present the trophies and certificates to children who have achieved outstanding results in our various competitions. Award recipients will also have an opportunity to perform their talents on our biggest stage at the concert gala.

    The Canada International Children’s Art Foundation is a registered non-profit organization since 2012.

    Art is a gift for children to inherit. It is our mission to explore children’s artistic ingenuity and showcase their artworks, cultivate their aesthetic ability, creative thinking, and help make them aware to environmental issues. 

    Our Foundation aims to build an international platform for children’s art education, artistic exchanges and displays, to encourage them to be inspired by their imagination and creativity and as a result, create their own art.

    The Canada International Children’s Art Festival has successfully carried out art exhibitions, live paintings, vocal and dance performances, music competitions, animation movies, sand sculptures, planetarium viewings, arts summer camps and many other colourful children’s art activities.

    The purpose of this year’s theme, “Waterside” is to encourage children to protect the Earth and the environment around us. Our goal is to teach children around the world about environmental awareness, and pass on the responsibility to create a bright and sustainable future. Through the children’s creativity, our festival attempts to stimulate children’s awareness so they can find a way to protect our environment.

    Since 2002, more than 10,000 children from all over the world have participated in our various art exhibitions as a participant or volunteer. Through the use of social media, we have connected with more than 100,000 aspiring young artists around the world.

    All three levels of the Canadian government have shown great support to our events, and the festival has been sponsored and supported by enthusiastic individuals and groups from all around of the world. The Canada International Children’s Art Festival has become one of the world’s leading children’s arts festivals.
