CICAF Opera Competition Rules and Regulations

4) Entry Requirements
Open to all children aged 5 to 17 years old

5) Competition Categories
Children – 5 years old to 10 years old
Youth – 11 years old to 17 years old
Group – 5 years old to 17 years old in groups of 3 or more

6) Entry Methods
1. Contestants must first fill out the registration form online (Click here to sign up). Then proceed to pay the registration fee. After submitting the application form successfully, the system will provide you a Registration Confirmation Code.
2. Online video submissions must be uploaded to Google, Baidu or other cloud services. Please send a file attached with the link to the video submission uploaded to the cloud along with the password and any other registration information to our email at artwork@childrenart.ca. *Please indicate Opera Contest in the subject line.*
3. Registration fees are as listed:
• Solo – $30 / person
• Duo – $25 / person
• Trio – $20 / person
• Small Group (4 to 9 people) – $150 / Group
• Large Group (10 to 20 people) – $200 / Group

All fees will be used to supplement the cost of the event. *All fees are non-refundable*

7) Competition Regulations
• Online Video Submission
o Contestants can choose singing opera arias or singing with makeup and acting, Beijing Opera or any local opera repertoire.
o Each performance should be 3 to 5 minutes long and must not exceed 5 minutes.
• Live Performance
o Contestants must sing with acting and makeup. Performances must also be between 3 to 5 minutes and must never exceed 5 minutes.

8) Judging Criteria
Our organizing committee will assemble a group of famous Canadian Opera artists to critique each entry. The performances will be critiqued according to singing and performance skills, style and expressiveness.

9) Awards
1. The Organizing Committee has the right to film and record the award ceremony and the right to reproduce, edit and redistribute through broadcasting and online videos.
2. The competition will be open to the public to attend all day long. Tickets will be available for purchase.
3. Award Ceremony: The Award Ceremony Concert Gala will take place on August 9, 2019. All winners will receive a trophy and certificate from Members of Parliament and the Chairman of the Canada International Children’s Art Foundation.
4. The recipients of the gold awards will be invited to perform at the Award Ceremony Concert Gala. Other individual award winners may also be invited to perform.

All dates are subject to change depending on the progress of the festival.
The organizing committee reserves the final right to interpret the regulations of the opera competition.
